PostSubject: D&D Style RP   Wed Jan 28, 2015 4:46 pm

Envy wants to do a D&D Style RP for KKE for some reason. Personally I find it boring and unappealing to those who just want to have fun and RP.

Sorry I don't mean to sound so negative, my heart isn't into anything today at all.

Thoughts? We'd have to write up a whole system for this, just giving a heads up.

Sounds like an awful lot of work.. unless we can separate it from the current RP and if someone who isn't power hungry puts the system together, then perhaps.

Yeah, I think it might be nice to try it out sometime, but definitely separate from current stuff.

Experiment at best. At least with it separate it won't scare people from joining.

I don't really see the call for it, but if someone wants to write it out and gain people who are interested in playing have at it I guess.

I checked out that link that Lance sent along to me and that thing is a bit overkill. Either way, setting up a system that will please everybody and be reasonable will take a LOT of time. Nonetheless finding someone that can put one together that is fair.

I don't know the first thing about D&D but I might like to sample it to see how it fares and to see what its all about.

I guess I'll give putting a system together a shot.. but it will be more based on the Vampire the Masquerade system and not D&D. We do not have to be that technical and have every little thing down to the letter and I don't have the time to do anything beyond something basic. If Laura, Tia, Mikey or anybody is interested in helping me out then that'd be great.

An yes Envy, I'll use a lot of the pieces from the links I sent you as a base. This will take quite some time so don't expect it to be done anytime soon. If I do decide to post our work in progress I will but it will be LOCKED from interference and only those who are working on it will be allowed access or the ability to edit.

I'm very familiar with VtM Nick hun. Mikey and I ran our last Gator RP off of the old VtM books with slight breed and modifications I made on my own and we ran the first one based on GURPS with a few tweaks made by us.

I'd be glad to help and I'm interested to see what you and Heather got started on.

Awesome Smile I really appreciate the help Laura. I need to create the sections and then I'll C & P what we did so we at least got a base to start on.

I suppose asking looking at the Storyteller rules I posted up before my ban as a possibility would probably be too much to ask, especially considering I likely won't be participating (though dice do make a humble limiter).

The main issue would be that most published RPG systems assume player interaction is live, either around the table or at least over an instant messenger of some sort. Accommodations may be required for by-post.

I've been participating in RPG systems for 20 years, SC. We want people to be able to participate regardless of skill level.. not scare them off with every single thing needing to have a reason or a bunch of rules behind it.

I do hope that you are aware SC that for one it is hard to get everybody together for live RP and as Koopette said we want to make everybody comfortable in participating and not scaring potential members off. That's all I got to say.

What's wrong with developing our own system, SC? If we did things the way everybody else did, nobody would bother coming here.

If it helps any, I go to a forum where they've been using the complex, full-scale D&D system very successfully for years now. Aside from having an OOC (out of character) thread to discuss things, there's not much trouble adapting it if you have a dice rolling system.

Nothing wrong with your own system, just... it was there, is all.

Also I saw you guys already made the topics before I posted, so that post was yet another unwise decision caused by lack of awareness of my surroundings. Mad

Sorry? How is it unwise? I don't know what you are trying to say. What about your surroundings?

He didn't look before he posted, I think is what SC is trying to say? And what was there, exactly?
